Summer starting off too hot for you? Go inside and check out these cool apps!

1. Flipboard - Android - Free

Finally available on Android, Flipboard takes the most natural gesture you use on your smartphone - flipping - to the next level. You lazily flip everything from social media to tech articles and it all changes, perfectly formatted for reading and with huge images to please the eye.

2.Chrome - iOS - Free

Chrome has finally quit its long beta and has arrived in its full force on both Android and iOS, but it’s the iOS version that finally supports all the neat gestures like flicking tabs to close them that really impresses. This log awaited app has iOS users saying, "So-long, Safari!"

3. Google Drive - iOS - Free

Google Drive sets you up with 5 gigs of free space in the extremely reliable Google Cloud where you can store your documents, spreadsheets, collaborate live and edit offline. You can access your documents on both the iPhone and the iPad, and paired with its price tag of free, that’s one of the best cloud solutions out there.

4. Podcasts - iOS - Free

One glaring omission in the first beta of iOS 6.0 I saw, was a podcasting app. The podcast section went weirdly missing for a while, and now Apple finally brought clarity to the situation with its new Podcasts app for iOS, a one-stop place for you to subscribe to and get updates to podcasts.

5. Firefox - Android - Free

Firefox for Android got such a huge overhaul (went out of beta actually), it feels almost like a new launch, and that’s what grants it a place in our monthly picks. The browser has matured and now has a more streamlined interface, adds Flash support and improved performance and safety feats.

6. Instapaper - Android - Free

Stumbled upon something interesting but long to read on the web? Chances are if you are the busy type you’d want to save it for later, when you have all the time to really dig into the details of a writeup. And that’s what Instapaper does best -0 it lets you save documents for offline viewing, stripping them off the unnecessary formatting.

7. Cloth - iOS - Free

Cloth is an app that will let you save all your daily outfits and remember what was that killer combo you wore that night. Neatly, it’d also show which outfits fit what weather and what style - from your work wardrobe to your party style.

8. Magic Piano - Android - Free

Magic Piano is what you think it is - another piano application for iOS and Android this time however with a gorgeous interface that can change and tons of nice little touches that would make you want to learn to play a real piano one day.

9. on{x} - Android - Free

on{X} - pronounces “on-ex” - for Android is an automation app developed by Microsoft for Google’s platform and this alone should grab your attention. If you use your phone to repeatedly do things, this automation app will be a true discovery for you - you can write your own code in no time with detailed explanations by Microsoft and fully customize your experience.

10. Any.DO - iOS - Free

One of the most popular Android list apps arrives with its clean interface to the App Store and it is a joy to use for those forgetting to buy the milk.

11. Super Stickman Golf - iOS - .99

Super Stickman Golf is a bit of a giveaway from the name of the game. It’s based on the golf. You get 9 holes per course, there’s no need to switch clubs and you choose the direction and power of the strike with on-screen buttons and that age old system of stopping a swingometer at the right point. It’s Stickman because your little avatar is a stickman and it’s Super because you can get power-ups to help you along the way. The most useful of all has to be the Mulligan which allows you to retake a shot without losing a stroke. The Sticky Ball is also pretty amusing but we’ll leave you to discover the joys of that one on your own.

12. Song Pop - iOS, Android - Free

This last app is a lot of fun! With Song Pop, you listen to song clips to test your music recognition - then send challenges to your friends! The look and feel is very clean, similar to Draw Something, and the addictive quality is quite contagious!
